A significant change in the Center’s evolution occurred in the autumn of 2001 when, due to its growth and diversified yet related initiatives, the Center changed its name to The Ohio Center for Essential School Reform. Under this “umbrella,” the Center still retains the Ohio Coalition of Essential Schools with its services to member and affiliate schools and continues to be governed by its own Board of Trustees. |

In addition to its work with the Coalition of Essential School Reform, the Ohio Center for Essential School Reform offers a variety of educational workshops that cover the range of educational services from kindergarten to high school, special education to gifted, and student to teacher to administration. Our trainers have a variety of qualifications including Doctorate in Educational Leadership, National Board Certification, Pathwise and Baldrige training, instruction with rural, suburban, and inner city schools, as well as over 100 years of in-class teaching experience. Our trainers have also kept up with the latest in educational philosophies whether it be Gardner, Bloom, Bernhardt, Tomlinson, Wiggins, or DuFour. Each set of workshops is divided by the desires your school has including such high profile needs as developing short-cycled assessment, strategies for the Ohio Graduation Test, Vertical Alignment, and Differentiated Instruction. For more information visit our workshops section.
Additionally, one of the Center's most exciting and expanding workshop initiatives is the Literacy Curriculum Alignment Project (LCAP). In this program, our coaches work with teachers and administrators in K-12 schools to align curriculum, assessment, and instruction to Ohio’s achievement tests. We develop Quality Impact Teams where teams of teacher-leaders work intensively in individual schools whose districts are in search of school improvement.
